Sick Student?  Here are some guidelines on when to stay home and when to return.

Stay Home

A student should stay home from school if they:

  • Are actively vomiting

  • Have a temperature greater than 100.4⁰F

  • Have an unexplained rash

  • Have frequent diarrhea

  • Have severe, persistent pain anywhere

  • Have cold symptoms severe enough to impact learning/participation 

  • Have been diagnosed with a specific condition requiring exclusion

Return to School

A student may return to school post- illness when:

  • fever-free without the use of fever-reducing medications for 24 hours

  • free of vomiting and/or diarrhea for 24 hours

  • illness/injury related symptoms have resolved enough for school participation

Vaccinate Before you Graduate

What is Vaccinate Before You Graduate?

Vaccinate Before You Graduate (VBYG) is an adolescent immunization program open to all middle and high school students. Students should visit their healthcare provider every year or a well care visit and needed immunizations; however, all immunizations that students need are also available through VBYG.

High School Health Requirements

Requirements for students entering 9th grade

  • 2 doses of HPV (human papillomavirus) vaccine

Requirements for students entering 12th grade

  • 2nd dose of Meningococcal vaccine

  • Up to date physical (dated within the last 12 months)

  • Recommended: Meningitis B series 

High School Screenings

9th Grade: Vision

  • Vision screenings are performed each semester by the school nurse.
